5.5 million of the Poles are liveing without electricity, sanitation or in
overcrowded conditions.

Poland is one of the last places in Europe when it comes to housing policies.
About 5.5 million people, or 14% of the population are living in substandard
conditions in Poland - according to the latest report of 'Foundation Habitat
For Humanity' (OS: The percentage seems to be calculated on the basis of the
total number of Poland's citizens, not including emigration).

"In Poland, we have 360 separate apartments per 1000 inhabitants, while the
European average is 100 more. In Germany for example it's about 500 per 1000
(OS: In Spain 565, in the Netherlands, Britain and Russia - about 440). One
can imagine effect of such an overpopulation against the living space. It is
estimated that a half of people of reproductive age, between 25 to 30 years
old, share their apartment with siblings, parents or others" says Malgorzata
Salamon, director of the Foundation for Habitat for Humanity.

...

She hints the reproductive Poles must have been accustomed to group sex etc.

Poland is a full member of the EU since 2004, - in May this year it will be
12th anniversary. And how has it benefited the Poles? Despite the 'success
story' image in the Atlanticist mass media Polish indicators of economy and
living standards are either similar or worse than the Russian ones. This is
despite the fact that Poland is 'the largest recipient' of the EU subsidies.

Bloomberg 2015-12-16 <http://archive.is/MRQlS>
"For 2014-2020, it stands to receive <http://is.gd/e3120r> almost 86
billion euros in structural and technical assistance, more than a quarter
of the total allocated for the purpose. That doesn't include allocations
under the Common Agricultural Policy - another 28.5 billion euros."

In the late Soviet age, in the 1980s, Poland was considered more developed
than the USSR, the Soviet people were glad to obtain furniture and clothing
etc of Polish production. Today it's nothing like this. The main product
Poland can offer to Russian market is apples <http://sptnkne.ws/FRe> (which
are of pretty poor quality in comparison to apples of other producers).

The main effect of the Poland's EU membership is that the dickheads like
Mr. Sikorski and Mr. Tusk are now included into the EU-cracy club. The main
effect to ordinary Poles is the opportunity to emigrate from their hapless
fatherland. Today about 2.5 millions of the Poles (about one in ten of the
whole number of the Polish employable) are living outside Poland, mostly in
Britain and Germany <http://archive.is/qia5a>, where they are subjected to
humiliation and racist attacks <http://archive.is/VIQLs> from aboriginals.

Likely, the modest gains in the economic and social management is the main
reason why the post-Soviet Polish establishment tries its best to switch
attention of the Polish plebs from real issues to imaginary Russian threat.
Emulation of the anti-Russia hysteria by Polish officials is also a soft
of service they sell to their American masters. Atlanticism needs 'proof'
and live illustration of alleged Russian threat, and the Polish political
whores can play such a role well.

...

By the way, situation with labor emigration is even more 'disastrous' in
the Baltic states - about quarter (or may be a third) of their populations
are now more or less persistently living abroad.

It's amusing to note, - when it comes to emigration from Russia (most part
of which is caused by labor / economic reasons as well), the Atlanticist
mass media usually raise the false narrative 'Russia's best and brightest
run away from Putin' with a great enthusiasm, but nobody finds interesting
the much huge economic migration from East Europe.
<http://tinyurl.com/hc7lye5> kresy.pl 2016-03-26
"We will fall in very first battle. Our armed forces are weak while the
massive Russian army would take three days to reach Vistula. But we can't
give our young people to perdition. All the Poles capable of fighting
should be evacuated from the country into some another NATO country,
where we will be able to form new Polish army, which will be used later
to fight on the Poland's territory. The Russians will be ruthless. They
will mercilessly pacify everything. We must have a clear evacuation plan.
But nobody cares! No, I'm not suggesting to give up. We must fight. But
we need to think over in advance who will be playing with whom." etc
The drivel like this is a quite typical attribute of the Polish officials.

Polish foreign minister: No more 'negro mentality' toward US

Witold Waszczykowski's words get him into trouble again.

By JAN CIENSKI | 3/30/16

Poland's new government has shed the country's "negro mentality" when it comes
to relations with the United States, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski
said on Polish public television.
Waszczykowski's use of *murzynskosci*, a phrase insulting in both Polish and
English, was supposed to be his way of showing that Poland's right-wing Law
and Justice party (PiS) government has broken with the supposed servile
attitude towards Washington demonstrated by the previous government. ..

...

Pan Waszczykowski's statement is indeed an oxymoron.

Polish 'murzynskosc' literally means 'niggerness'. English non-insulting and
perfectly polite equivalent would be 'slavishness'. But, because the Poles are
Slavs it means Poland cannot be non-slavish, simply by design.

Btw it's not the Waszczykowski's specific wording. Former Polish MFA Sikorski
used it as well, but not in public <http://archive.is/fl9Oa>. In 2008 Sikorski
also joked Obama's grandfather was a cannibal <http://archive.is/Gtl6c>.

The Ghosts of Smolensk
How the divisive legacy of late President Lech Kaczynski still poisons
Poland's politics.

CHRISTIAN DAVIES | APRIL 8, 2016

.. But during a stopover in Crimea to collect the Latvian prime minister and
the presidents of Estonia, Lithuania, and Ukraine, Kaczynski announced a
change of plan: They would be flying directly to Tbilisi. His pilot refused.
They did not have the requisite security guarantees to fly into a war zone on
such short notice, he said, and he could not fulfill his duty to ensure the
safety of the passengers.

Kaczynski confronted the pilot, demanding respect for his authority as head of
state. "If someone decides to become a pilot, he cannot be fearful," the
president told him, according to the Polish newspaper Dziennik. "After we
return home we shall deal with this matter." A few weeks later, a deputy from
Kaczynski's Law and Justice party demanded that the pilot be prosecuted on the
grounds of his "cowardice" and insubordination. .. While the pilot who was
accused of cowardice ultimately dropped out of the military, citing
depression, his co-pilot and navigator died in an aviation disaster just under
two years later. They were flying a delegation led by President Kaczynski to
Smolensk in western Russia. ..

.. President Kaczynski, however, had not been invited. It suited both Tusk and
Putin to underscore that, whereas Kaczynski's confrontational approach had
left him isolated, their statesmanship had yielded results. But Kaczynski was
determined not to allow Tusk to take all the credit. Shunned by Dmitry
Medvedev, his Russian counterpart, Kaczynski scheduled his own delegation to
Katyn. It was this rival delegation, flying in the same plane as Tusk's had
done three days before, that would never reach its destination.

To Kaczynski's supporters, Tusk's "alliance" with Putin offered grounds for
suspicion that the tragic accident that killed Kaczynski was, in fact, an
assassination. For them, the prime minister's concessions to Germany and
Russia were tantamount to national surrender, his conciliatory approach craven
and unpatriotic. Kaczynski, they argue, had proven a formidable obstacle to
these dastardly plots. In fact, he was so dangerous to Tusk and Putin that he
was to be eliminated. ..

For Kaczynski's critics, the most likely explanation is more prosaic, if
nonetheless troubling. 2010 was a presidential election year, and Kaczynski
was lagging badly in the polls. They argue that Kaczynski's delegation was
heaving with top-ranking officials because of his desire to assert his status
as head of state. When the warning came from Russia that his plane should turn
back on account of heavy fog, it is possible to imagine that this was
interpreted not as a warning made in good faith, but as a ruse to humiliate
him further. Kaczynski had a record when it came to pressuring pilots to land
in dangerous circumstances, and cockpit recordings appear to show senior
officials pressuring the pilots to land immediately before impact. ..

...

The story illustrates the features of the Polish nationalism Kaczynski style.

A shrill hell of a mix of.

European Parliament to push for tougher action on Poland

MEPs hopes to spur the Commission to crack down on Warsaw.

MAÏA DE LA BAUME AND JAN CIENSKI | 4/11/16

Poland should face the next level of scrutiny from the European Commission
in its probe of the country's rule of law, according to a draft motion seen
by POLITICO that is being readied for debate in the European Parliament on
Wednesday. ..

If the right-wing government in Warsaw doesn't comply, then the Commission
should move to the second stage of the rule of law procedure which "shall
clarify whether there is a systemic threat to the democratic values and the
rule of law in Poland," the draft resolution states. ..

...

Euroatlanticism allows dense right-wing agenda only for special purposes.
That's why the current Polish government is so industriously yelling and
whining - and jumping and beating their head on the floor - about fictional
Russian threat. "Please allow us to exist, Sir, Russia is about going to
invade us, so, please, allow us to exist."

Lots of boots through Poland over the centuries.
Some came to rule, others just passing through
(after stealing everything found in their path).

There are a few places in the world that are just
badly located - "crossroads", the place you have
to pass through to get from interesting place #1
to interesting place #2 - meaning that every
army winds up tromping across them.

No. They agreed with the Germans on a line down the
middle of Poland
Reference point to the separation was the s. c. 'Curzon
Line', - here <http://is.gd/kdPmGQ> you can learn about
it. This meant that Germany got the 'core Polish' part of
then Poland while a large part of what the USSR got were
'West Ukraine' and 'West Belarus'.
and then invaded Poland on the same day
the Germans did.
The Nazis invaded Poland September 1, 1939, the Soviet
troops entered the Polish territory September 17, - it's
still not the same day.
After the war I think they expelled the
Poles from what had been the Soviet half, presumably into
the former part of Germany which was now part of Poland,
thus shifting Poland westward.
In the 1930s, Poland - mainly the Pilsudski regime - was
ultra-nationalist, and had some apprehensible issues with
the Ukrainians and Belarusians (eg. <http://is.gd/vmh7FB>,
<http://is.gd/kjtvlB>, <http://is.gd/UGxoYd>). Also do not
forget it included a large part of Lithuania at the time.
On the other hand, about third part of the modern Germany
sometime was a sort of Poland.

Poland says Russia poses existential threat, urges NATO presence

By REUTERS | PUBLISHED: 16:09 GMT, 15 April 2016

BRATISLAVA, April 15 (Reuters) - Poland Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski
said on Friday Russia has the potential to destroy countries and therefore
poses more of an existential threat than groups like the Islamic State.

Speaking at a security conference in Bratislava, Waszczykowski reiterated
Poland's call for the deployment of NATO troops on the alliance's eastern
flank, saying he hoped a July NATO summit in Warsaw would approve such moves.

"We have existential threats and non-existential threats. Of course the
Russian activity is kind of an existential threat because this activity may
destroy countries," he said when asked which security challenges he saw as
existential.

"And we have non-existential threats like terrorists, like massive wave of
migrants."

...

Poland enthusiastically supports the Atlanticist invasions that generate
the refugees flow. However it does not want to share responsibility for
consequences, and refuses to take the refugees in. That is because Poland
has something very much better to offer to Europe, I mean, the persistent
hysterical yelling about the imminent Russian invasion in Poland.

Angry Polish bloke writes about Poland (draft abridged translation).

<http://tinyurl.com/hovoxsy> neon24.pl

.. the West in general and the European Union in particular were never engaged
in philanthropy. They always plundered and ruthlessly exploited those who were
stupid and / or the weak enough to fall into their clutches. But the mask of
altruism flatters their soul, and it's also useful in order to make a fool of
the fools.

The West's scenario is simple. First, it lures the potential victim society by
colorful images of the Western prosperity, which is supposed to be the result
of a wise socio-economic system rather than of the centuries of colonialism.
Thus obtaining a social unrest, the West installs in power its agents. In the
Ukraine, it happened through the coup, now called "revolution of dignity". ..

The insanity like this also affected other nations. .. At the beginning of the
"transformation" the herd of Polish-speaking "Europeans" was staring adoringly
to the agents of Western financiers, bleating approvingly in response to the
drivel about "free market" and "innovative economy". At the same time, Western
corporations looted and destroyed Polish real economy, the matrix of national
material existence. Destruction of economy led to the massive "export" of our
people.

After 25 years of such an "economy", Poland is a virtually deserted country.
In the provinces, almost exclusively, only elderly pensioners and others who
for some reason could not emigrate, are remaining. Large cities are filled
with the monstrous bureaucracy and their families as well as with "students."
However, more and more often you hear foreign languages on the streets.

The western colonialists and eastern "refugees" are arriving into the country.
Growing economic difficulties in the rich Western countries cause some
Westerners to come for an easy life here where they feel themselves "supermen"
and exceptional people. Here you can find natives with an inferiority complex
and teach them something.

Meanwhile, the post-1989 generation can not even think that it's possible to
live a normal life in their own country: new normal is the persistent nomadism
within the EU with a search for a better job of dishwasher or in a brothel. ..

And our national political scene is persistently dominated by scoundrels that
already for a quarter of century betray and destroy our country, increasingly
feeling themselves under impunity. ..

Are Poland's Elites Itching for War with Russia?

PETER S RIETH | April 28, 2016

.. Poland's political class is angry that the United States did not take the
opportunity to start the third world war.

One might wonder what compels the broad, bipartisan consensus in Poland as
regards Russia? Given that further escalation would at the very least damage
economic relations which are already in tatters due to the crisis in Ukraine,
why are Poland's ruling elites playing with fire rather than working hard to
reconcile East with West? The answer is largely due to the isolation of the
ruling Solidarity elite from the common people. Unlike roughly 38 million
Poles who have to work for a living, 4 million of whom have fled West over the
past 25 years to escape poverty, the Solidarity elites who were elevated to
power in 1989 have almost never had to hold private sector jobs. They have
either been in a branch of government or in its orbit for 25 years. This
disconnection from reality blinds them to the pressing needs of their people.
Many of them also ascribe to dangerous expansionist creeds rooted in
Promethism, a political ideology seeking eastward expansion and a settling of
historical scores with Moscow. Rather than focus on economic growth for their
people and the establishment of good relations with Russia, the Solidarity
elite is determined to defeat Russia.

The United States fails to recognize that although it will presumably retain
command over any American troops eventually stationed in Poland, it will be
helpless in the face of Polish impetuosity. Polish military units might engage
Russians on international waters, just as Poland invaded Kiev in 1919 hoping
for French and British aid in the endeavor and nearly destroying their young
country in the process. The United States has achieved international power and
prominence due to a realistic application of military, economic and political
power.

The Poles, always looking for a fight with the Russians, will make American
prudence in military affairs almost impossible and risk worsening an already
tense situation. .. The United States must demonstrate a more responsible
posture and recognize the current Polish stance for what it is: a death wish
combined with an itchy trigger finger. America should not allow those itchy
fingers to influence how and when American military might is used.

...

The bunch of hateful morons that make up the major part of the current ruling
class in Poland becomes one of the most irresponsible troublemakers. Also, the
present day US is no longer an actor characterized by 'realistic application
of military, economic and political power'. The latter is the main reason of
the American decline, but until they reached a more comprehensive decline they
are still able to make various evil in the world, and in the combination with
the homicidal Poles the situation becomes more dangerous.

The New European Fascists

Chris Hedges | Jul 24, 2016

Government leaders in Poland are promoting a neofascist ideology ..

WARSAW, Poland-Jaroslaw Kurski and Piotr Stasinski embody the hope that once
was Poland. They struggled against the Communist regime for years in the
underground press and as Solidarity members. They built Gazeta Wyborcza, now
one of the most influential newspapers in the country, after the 1989 fall of
communism. They helped usher in a period of democracy and open debate, one
that included cultural space for historians such as Jan Gross, a Polish-born
American who courageously confronted the taboo topic of Polish complicity in
the Nazi extermination of nearly all of Poland's 3 million Jews.

And then neoliberalism, imposed by global capitalism and international banks,
began to spread its poison. Legions of unemployed or underemployed were cast
adrift. Two million Poles, many of them young people desperate for jobs, have
left to work abroad. Governmental austerity programs devastated cultural
institutions, including public schools, the arts and public broadcasting. And
finally, following a familiar death spiral, the October 2015 elections brought
to power the nationalists and demagogues of the right-wing Law and Justice
Party (PiS). There is no left-wing party represented in the parliament.

Not much of Poland's promise remains. PiS is rapidly rolling back
constitutional rights. It blocks state media coverage of the fading political
opposition, especially the Committee for the Defense of Democracy (KOD), which
has held a series of protest demonstrations. PiS shamelessly uses the airwaves
and the schools for rabid nationalist propaganda. The public broadcasting
system-in which the party purged more than 100 staff members-twisted President
Barack Obama's recent criticism of the Polish government's assault on the
judiciary into praise for Polish democracy. And the ruling party has forced
state institutions to cancel subscriptions to Gazeta Wyborcza and pressured
distributors throughout the country not to display or sell copies of the
newspaper.

"There is no longer genuine parliamentary debate," Stasinski said when I met
with him and Kurski at the Gazeta Wyborcza offices in Warsaw. "There are no
longer checks and balances of power. ..

"We operate under two systems of law," said Kurski. "One is constitutional and
legal. The other is unconstitutional and illegal. The problem is that the
illegal and unconstitutional system runs the country."

Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the founder and head of the ruling party, governs Poland
like a private fiefdom. Prime Minister Beata Szydlo and President Andrzej Duda
are political puppets. Kaczynski, reclusive and morbid, is referred to with
fear or reverence as "the Chairman." His words, and his obsessions, are law.
..

Read more interesting details <http://tinyurl.com/zn3e3vn>

...

This writing represents a heavy 'leftist' view. It blames only the current
ruling clique - the PiS party - but the political reality in Poland is gloomy
across the whole spectrum. Politics in Poland is a combat between different
sorts of crap, while sane parties are small and weak, and they can not cause
much impact to what is going on.

What the writer contrasts to PiS - 'Gazeta Wyborcza' etc - is just another
sort of filth - a quasi-leftist 'globalist' 'center-left', - somewhat similar
to what 'The Guardian' represents in Britain.

In the British case, there are more or less sane nationalist right-wingers
(eg. UKIP) though. In Poland, it's different, their sane right-wingers are
marginal while the heavily insane PiS party - 'chauvinism defines public
discourse' - makes up the right-wing nationalist mainstream. This party is
really inclined to fascism (in combination with the - specifically Polish -
Catholic fundamentalism), - it is not an exaggeration. The current political
layout in Poland leaves no any good choice for the Poles: 'all are worse'. It
makes the whole nation persistently neurotic. And their policymakers try to
redirect the Polish national neurosis to the 'Russian threat' fiction.

The rise of 'youth nationalism' in Poland

TOM JUNES | 26 July 2016

What is causing the youth of Poland to mobilise so strongly in the name of
nationalism and xenophobia?

Poland is in the news again, but not necessarily for any good reasons. A
country that not so long ago was labeled the success story of the
post-communist transition is now making headlines as the latest example of an
illiberal turn in Europe, one in which the 'state of democracy' is under real
threat. There are several causes for this development, but one has received
scant attention so far: the role of youth. This is remarkable since young
voters were a crucial group bringing about Poland's 'swing to the right' in
last year's elections. As a result, there is no left or even centre-left
political party represented in parliament. ..

Young people seem to have been massively swayed by an anti-establishment,
xenophobic, and Eurosceptic discourse fueled by underlying economic
resentments. At the same time, a rise in nationalist sentiments can be
observed among the younger generation. To large extent, this is the result
of the state's 'politics of history' of the past decade.

Politics of history as a state prerogative ..

.. a specific state institution, the Institute of National Remembrance (IPN),
that the government's politics of history are realised most effectively. The
IPN is the largest historical research institute in the country .. it has
become a crucial instrument in the state and government's 'politics of
memory'. In this sense it has a nationwide educational mission, popularising
its historical narrative. ..

Politicised history as policy

Since the IPN is a state-controlled institution an incumbent political party
can dictate the politics of history and memory according to its own
ideological preferences. This has proved problematic in the past when Law and
Justice governed the country in 2005-2007 and the IPN became politicised and
used as an instrument to deal with political opponents .. The current
government is engineering a complete takeover of the IPN by changing its
legal ramifications and installing handpicked activists and historians in the
institute's organisational and executive structures.

More so, the government has embarked upon a radical overhaul of the country's
politics of history. This not only relates to changing existing or planned
projects such as the Museum of the Second World War in Gdansk, but in fact
aims to educate the country's youth in a 'correct and patriotic' fashion which
includes emphasising the vicitimisation of the Polish nation and the
glorification of new 'heroes' - such as the so-called 'damned soldiers' who
fought the communist regime in a guerilla war immediately after the Second
World War but whose actions also include anti-Semitic excesses and murderous
crimes against other ethnic groups. ..

Consumption of history and youth mobilisation

While it might seem that Poland's youth is disenchanted .. their current
preference for right-wing and far right parties stands out. .. Over the past
years thousands if not tens of thousands of young people have flocked to
participate in the so-called Independence Marches which have been organised by
right-wing and far right groups on 11 November, Poland's Independence Day. ..

.. It is a phenomenon of 'consuming patriotism' that has substituted
historical consciousness among the younger generation .. More so, the
governing Law and Justice party has tolerated or even supported attacks on
academics and historians who disagree or are critical of the current politics
of history. It has not condemned nationalist and far right youth
demonstrations which have increased in frequency since Law and Justice came to
power. Simultaneously, a worrying proliferation of racist hate crimes has
taken place around the country.

Nevertheless, the country's president Andrzej Duda - praising the growing
participation of youth in patriotic events - endorsed the latest Independence
March which saw numerous accounts of xenophobic hate speech. ..

Polish Film on Smolensk Plane Crash Takes Delusional Paranoia to New Heights

a.. Many Poles are convinced Moscow destroyed their president's plane in
2010 - despite inability to name any obvious motive for doing so
b.. The ruling 'Law & Justice' party has produced a totally ludicrous
fictional dramatization of the event insinuating a vast conspiracy (see
trailer below)
c.. The West may have collaborated with Moscow in blowing up the plane, or
at least covering it up - yep, that's right. Why? Because Poland is an eternal
victim and the whole world is always conspiring against Poland

There is an unhealthy situation in Poland. The regular Poles are en masse

They fought each other due to Putin. The would-be suicide wanted to finish off
his opponent
2016-11-07

On Thursday (03.11), during a joint drinking two men entered into a brawl due
to political issues related to Vladimir Putin. During the fight one of the men
lost consciousness after being hit in the head. The second thought that he had
killed his opponent and decided to commit a suicide out of despair ...
Meanwhile, the man that lost consciousness, started to awake. This fact
enraged the would-be suicide one, and this time he decided to finish off his
opponent for real. .. Police stopped the men and called ambulance. ..

...

Putin has not come to bring peace, but a sword! ;-)

The quote from the Gospel is often misinterpreted as a testament to primordial
Christian bloodthirstiness. But this is not so blunt, actually. What Jesus
really meant is that he brought a new paradigm that would provoke heated
discussions and division among people so that even close friends or members of
one family may become hostile to each other.

Which Are the Real "Illiberal Democracies"?

JEREMY COOPER | DECEMBER 24, 2016

Did you know that democracy is dying in Eastern Europe? That is the accepted
consensus among the foreign policy establishment, from the New York Times and
Washington Post to the conservative-leaning American Enterprise Institut eand
John McCain.

Well, it's not exactly democracy that is dying. Even these critics admit that
the Polish Law and Justice Party (PiS) and Fidesz in Hungary have been
democratically elected in free and fair elections and remain popular to this
day. Rather, these states are said to be transforming into "illiberal
democracies," or countries where the majority rules but the government lacks
traditional aspects of liberal democracy such as checks and balances and
respect for civil rights.

Considering that this is now conventional wisdom among the foreign policy
establishment, we may want to look for examples of Poland and Hungary actually
arresting political opponents or putting them on trial, traditional hallmarks
of dictatorship. I have not been able to find a single case, and interestingly
that is more than one can say about many of the so-called liberal democracies
in Western Europe.

For example, in the Netherlands, Geert Wilders, the leader of a political
party that may finish first in elections next year, was recently convicted not
of inciting violence, but "inciting discrimination" by telling a crowd he
wanted fewer Moroccans. National Front leader Marine Le Pen recently faced
similar charges in France for saying that immigrants were occupying her
country, a comment that wouldn't raise eyebrows if made by an American
conservative.

None of these are outlier cases. Across Western Europe, states regularly bring
criminal and civil cases against individuals for criticizing immigration,
multiculturalism, feminists, or sexual liberalism. Yet one never hears a word
about democracy being under threat in any of these countries. ..

...

It is wrong to put Hungary and Poland in one line. While the current gov't in
Hungary may be considered more or less decent right-wingers, the Polish PiS is
not the case. Situation in Poland is, actually, pretty sick.

The writer was too lazy to find examples of "arresting political opponents" in
Poland while the wave of repressions, including arresting some of the gov't's
opponents, happened quite recently there (eg. <http://tinyurl.com/hd6ldq3> ).

There's no any real freedom of thought and expression in Poland. Explanation
of historical events is toughly controlled by the state 'Institute of National
Remembrance'. Those who might have different opinions are under risk to become
a sort of pariah / enemy of the state. The current Polish president Andrzej
Duda looks and feels like a petty criminal, pickpocket-style. If I was under
Poland's legislation, such a remark would be enough to throw me in jail for up
to 3 years. The laws in Poland <http://migre.me/tZndi> in this sense are much
harsher than in most of other countries in the world, including Russia. Polish
mass media, especially those that represent the ruling PiS camp, promote
hateful racist stuff and various jingoistic idiocies and conspiracies, which
makes the Polish people ignorant and obsessed with ridiculous beliefs.

The modern Poland is actually a semi-fascist regime, where the ruling class
and nationalist intelligentsia brazenly exploit sentiments of victimhood and
national inferiority complex, but this state of affairs is acceptable to the
Atlanticist elites as long as the regime in Poland is 'pro-Western', and their
politicians are yelling, in a whorish manner, about upcoming Russian invasion.

The writer has a valid point that the modern 'liberalism' is combined with a
flavor of messianic-like zeal that doesn't tolerate a rational criticism but
rather represents an 'obligatory' religious-like doctrine. However, Poland is
in no way a proper example to consider it a healthy alternative. Moreover,
Poland is not a 'western' entity at all, and it's not relevant to the typical
'western' issues (as well as the Polish Catholicism is, specifically, more
narrow-national rather than Catholical).

While the Polish ruling class craves to be in the 'western club', a large part
of the ordinary Poles feel uncomfortable in the 'western' environment, and -
despite the fact that modern Russia does not have interest to the Poles - many
of them still look at the east mistakenly believing they still have 'special
links' to Russia. The latter drives the Polish establishment (both 'liberal'
and 'illiberal') to spread hateful anti-Russia propaganda, and to yell about
Russian invasion. There are almost no news about Poland in the Russian media,
because the Russian public has no interest to Poland. In contrast, the Polish
media publish a lot of Russia-related stuff, a lot of lies and 'acute'
speculations about what 'really' happens in Russia. Even more acute than the
British ones. Also, Polish establishment (especially their 'illiberal' part)
are extremely hysterical about alleged Kremlin's agents, and during their
internal squabbles they routinely accuse each other of working for Moscow.

To Russia, it'd be much better if 'the West' took them completely, making them
forget about Russia, since, from the Russian perspective, Poland is a useless,
hysterical and burdensome material which is not worthy to deal with it. Maybe,
the best case would be an introduction of external management in Poland, say,
to make it a German protectorate within the EU framework. The Germans have a
big experience of management over the Poles, and maybe they might better calm
them, assuring them that the Russian invasion is not happen etc etc.

I don't think there was ever much REASON to
invade Poland ... it was just kind of between

Anyway .... if HRC had been elected then maybe

Poland's FM doesn't want an independent EU, prefers US hegemony

Sergey Gladysh | January 17, 2017

Having an independent EU is not in Poland's interests, says the country's
Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski.

After an hour and a half meeting with the French presidential candidate Marine
Le Pen, Poland's Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski expressed his concerns
regarding her plans for EU reform. ..

".. She would like to turn it (the EU) into a completely different structure,
which would not be under the influence of neither Russia nor the United
States," Waszczykowski was quoted as saying according to a RIA Novosti report
<http://u.to/laOsDw>, which cited a European Commission website broadcast.
(OS: I've checked it by other sources, the citation seems to be correct)

He went on to add that the implementation of such a plan is disadvantageous
for Poland, as it involves turning the EU into a "free Union". Waszczykowski,
however, did not elaborate on what he meant by a "free Union" or why an
independent EU is supposedly bad for Poland.

The Polish Foreign Minister also noted that Le Pen is in favor of "intelligent
cooperation", which, according to Waszczykowski, would lead to a departure
from European solidarity. "It would mean that we would return, maybe not to
the "law of the jungle", but to significant competition in Europe."

Again, it's not clear as to why Waszczykowski prefers blind ideology-based
solidarity to intelligent cooperation. He also failed to elaborate on what he
sees wrong with healthy competition within Europe. And while it may be
interesting to ask him about the advantages US dominance has brought to Poland
and the EU over the last decade, it's important to remember one thing - this
is the same guy who talked about having meetings with officials from San
Escobar <https://clck.ru/AVsti>, an imaginary country that exists only in his
head.

...

Meanwhile, Jaroslav Kaczynski, the leader of the currently ruling semi-fascist
PiS party, said recently that he was a witness to an incredible pressure on
the Polish government from the Obama administration, and expressed a hope that
under President Trump, the obtrusive American global leadership will bypass
Poland's internal matters <https://clck.ru/AWE2M> .

Such a contradiction illustrates how much smartass the Polish politicians are.

More decent east-European nations, like, say, Czechia or Hungary, in contrast
to Poland, don't play the 'Russian threat' card in so disgraceful way. But the
Polish policy makers consider it a way to get attention and more Atlanticist
funds, misrepresent Poland as a 'bastion of resistance', and divert attention
from their internal affairs that don't fit to the declared 'EU values', - but
since Poland is 'under threat' then it's supposedly giving them an indulgence.
Waszczykowski's embarrassment is due to the fear that a sanitation within the
EU would deprive the Polish vocal political whores of the opportunity to make
profits through their lustful crazy yells about Moscow going to rape ugly them

Poland says it has proof Russia 'deliberately' caused 2010 plane crash
that killed the Polish president and 95 others
"In a separate investigation , the Polish Committee for Investigation of
National Aviation Accidents concluded the following:

"Cause of Accident:

"The immediate cause of the accident was the descent below the minimum
descent altitude at an excessive rate of descent in weather conditions which
prevented visual contact with the ground, as well as a delayed execution of
the go-around procedure. Those circumstances led to an impact on a terrain
obstacle resulting in separation of a part of the left wing with aileron and
consequently to the loss of aircraft control and eventual ground impact."

The Poles have gotten even more Russiaphobic than
our Dems. Admittedly Russia is right on their border
and Poland always seems to be in the path of every
invader ... but frankly Russia hasn't really DONE
anything so extraordinary relative to Poland as to
justify such hysteria.

So there, much like here, I think "Russia is an EXCUSE,
a way for the local politicians to gain and keep power
and get foreign aid because of the "emergency". The
"crisis" will cover a multitude of homegrown sins too.

Machiavelli recommended just such a scheme centuries
ago ... they're reading right out of his playbook.

So, Poles ought to redirect their gaze from the eastern
border and fix it on their own leaders instead. Something

Those guys followed EXACTLY what the KGB told them to follow. But right now,
hopefully, the Polish government is Polish, and not Putin's poodles, so the
conclusions are different.
It does not mean that the catastrophe was on Putin's orders. Personally, I
suspect complicity of goons of the former Polish Prime Minister, Donald
Tusk, who hated Pres. Kaczynski.
This Polish guy isn't trolling. This is what the Polish 'anti-globalist'
nationalists really look like. The intra-Polish traitors, Russia, Germany
and the Jews are all in a sinister conspiracy against the proud Poles.

Polish investigation of the incident conducted under previous Tusk gov't
accused the Russian air traffic controllers of negligence (what Moscow did
not agree, objecting that the high status of the flight left the final
decision on landing to the pilots). But the PiS party went much further,
and from the very beginning they started to develop a conspiracy that there
was a diabolical collusion between Tusk and Putin aimed to kill the leaders
of the Polish opposition at the time.

On the wave of their populist nationalist rhetoric the PiS party came to
power, and since they managed to speak out a lot about it, it left them no
option other than to simulate a new investigation. So now they have
'discovered' the 'new findings' that allegedly can prove their conspiracy
theory. The fact that the regular Poles voted for PiS means their unhealthy
propaganda works well in Poland, and a lot of Poles share such conspiracy
beliefs. The liberal Tusk's party in Poland also demonized Russia in an
insane way, and now their own insanity got back to them in the form of the
insane accusations from their insane domestic opponents.

Everything is sick and insane in the Polish politics.

Their insanity is essentially similar to what's going on now in the US with
regard to 'Russiagate'. In both cases one can see silly populace subjected
to the technology of mass-media brainwashment, orchestrated by very cynical
persons behind the scenes. Also, in both cases 'Russia' is used by most of
those who take part in the domestic shitstorms as a kind of Voodoo doll.

This is actually a dangerous situation, because the magnification of insane
rhetoric and absurd beliefs sooner or later would demand to turn to insane
actions and misdeeds.

In essence, it indicates a notable moral decay of the current generation of
the 'western' policy makers and ideologists. Many of them pompously speak
about morals and values whereas political play becomes more and more dirty.
The tone of the present day insanity was actually set in 2012, with regard to
the 'pussy riot' case, gays, church etc in Russia. The 'western' leftists
were enthusiastically vibrating, and now the morons have gotten Trump in
America and that's what the leftists deserve. In the 2014, the huge wave of
insanity and lies was produced due to a necessity to misrepresent the anti-
democratic coup in the Ukraine as a 'revolution'. Parallel to this 'the west'
had found itself in bed with the jihadists in Syria, so even more lies and
dirty tricks were required to maintain 'proper' narratives. It looks like a
profound f*ck-up, and the recent Polish absurdity is just a little cherry on
the cake.

It does not mean that the catastrophe was on Putin's

Pres. Kaczynski.
Yes, you do hate Donald Tusk, so no wonder that you want to pin the blame on
him for the catastrophe of the plane whose pilots were most likely pushed to
land despite 200m visibility, because of the political ambitions Jaroslaw
Kaczynski, the controlling brother of President Lech Kaczynski.
Having caused?/contributed to? the death of his brother and 95 other people,
Jaroslaw Kaczynski, the "genious strategist" that he is, turned around and
tried to milk the death of his brother - to ride on the wave of compassion
for losing his brother - into the Presidential office.
When this plan A) failed, the longer term plan B) kicked in - getting to
power by making the plane crash into ... a massive international
assassination, and casting in the main villain role - your political
nemesis, the hated by Mr. Kaczynski - Donald Tusk.
So breath easier, Mr.Smirnov - Mr. Kaczysnki's play is entirely for the
domestic audience, Russians are not the _main target_ of the assassination
narrative - but merely the sadly unavoidable collateral damage of the grab
for power in Poland.
You see, even though Tusk is main target ("Personally, I suspect complicity
of goons of the former Polish Prime Minister, Donald Tusk"), Mr. Kaczynski
cannot leave the Russians entirely out of his conspiracy theory - one can't
realistically hope to convince people that _Polish_ PM have sprayed
artificial fog (to reduce visibility) and helium (to reduce aerodynamic
lift) ariund a Russian miliatry airport without Russian knowledge,
Even more, so Mr. Tusk couldn't have ordered the _Russian_ military air
traffic controllers to "deliberately" bring the Polish plane down (the quote
of the Polish prosecutor appointed by Mr. Kaczynski's Party) and then order
the Russian soldiers to execute the survivours to hide the truth, without
_some_ Russian connection.
So they can't entirely leave Russia out of the equation, but to the PiS
"It does not mean that the catastrophe was on Putin's orders."
brat_olin
In other words, Mr. Smirnov, this conspiracy theory has not been prepared
against Putin, it is against Donald Tusk, who has denied Mr. Kaczynski power
in the past so many times, and whose party is still today the largest
opposition to Mr Kaczynski's absolute power (his Party has the absolute
control of Parliament, Senate, President, the public media, the state
prosecutors, and, soon the full control of the Constitutional Court).
Poland in its current state is a source of contagion in the region, similarly
to what it was before the WW2. In order to avoid too much pressure from the EU
and distract attention from the intra-Polish issues, the current Polish gov't
chose to let out insane whorish wails about impending Russian invasion. In the
political sense, Poland is a dirty whore, absolutely without honor and credit.

I would apply it to all mainstream Polish parties, Kaczynski, Tusk and others.

Poland is turning authoritarian

Claudia Ciobanu | 2017-07-22

Late Friday night, the Polish parliament completed the adoption of a set of
laws that amount to the executive taking control of the judiciary. The
Constitutional Tribunal, the highest appeals court, and the body responsible
for appointing judges - all three - will be largely in the hands of the ruling
nationalist Law and Justice Party (PiS), when these laws come into effect. ..

Ever since it came to power in the fall of 2015, PiS has been systematically
dismantling the rule of law. The first step was attacking the powers of the
Constitutional Tribunal just a month after taking power, followed by
monopolising state bureaucracy, state media and the military, and now moving
on to the rest of the justice system. Critics say opponents of the regime will
lose the right to fair trial, making politically motivated harassment - if not
repression - possible. PiS is likely to change the electoral law, too, to
increase its chances of winning another mandate. ..

.. Support for PiS remains high, with close to 40 percent of people saying
they would vote for them - a percentage similar to that which brought the
party to power. PiS violating the rule of law does not seem to dissuade most
of its electorate. ..

The reasons for this unwavering support are generally known in Polish society.
PiS is following a nationalistic recipe that's proved popular around the
world, from the United States and UK to Hungary: They are using socioeconomic
woes and instigating fears to control the people.

Poland may be known in the West as the success story of post-communist
transition, but it's also the country with the largest percentage of workers
on precarious contracts in Europe, where working families often cannot afford
to pay housing or basic living costs.

For the last decade, in power and opposition, PiS has been propagating the
idea that the post-1989 liberal democracy is illegitimate. According to their
paranoid reading of reality, concocted by PiS leader Jaroslaw Kaczynski and
supported by right-wing elites hungry for a piece of the pie, communists
continued to control power in Poland after 1989, which is allegedly why things
are not going the right way for the Polish people. ..

...

"Their paranoid reading of reality" is in deed sick, and the Russian agentura
are everywhere in the Polish collective madness. There's no any international
outrage due to their allegations that the Russians deliberately assassinated
their unhappy president & Co, but that's the official version of the current
Polish government. Their desire to get themselves out of the European criticism
due to these domestic reforms explains why the Polish politicians are squealing
so whorishly about the Russian threat.

Newsweek - Sep 19

The Zapad 2017 maneuvers ended yesterday. They were exactly what Russia and
Belarus had announced - a regular, medium-size training event with no special
intent or effect.

NATO and its various spokesperson had done what they like to accuse Russia of.
They created fakenews <http://u.to/DltDEA> about the maneuver based on nothing
but hot air:

Zapad-2017 concluded earlier this week, by which time it had seriously
fizzled out, in Western media terms at least.
...
And the Russians are enjoying a rare last laugh. They point out, with some
justification, that their numbers were accurate, there was no dissembling,
international borders were respected. All the Russian troops introduced
into neighbouring Belarus for the exercise are going home, too. After all
the Western accusations that Russia has been waging an information war with
the help of "fake news", who is disseminating "fake news" now, they ask. Is
this not further evidence that Western opinion formers are stuck in the rut
of Cold War stereotypes? They have a point.

The Western "opinion formers" have, of course, reason to hype everything their
selected boogeyman does. That reason is greed. This year nearly all NATO
countries increased their military budgets. The U.S. Senate passed a record
$700 billion trough for the Pentagon with 89 to 8 votes. The more than 10%
budget increase was even higher that what President Trump had requested. It
broke all earlier commitments:

The $700 billion is $91 billion beyond the spending caps outlined in the
2011 Budget Control Act, which demanded a "sequestration" of military
spending in order to rein in federal costs.

There was no public outrage over this increase. Meanwhile Russia cut its 2018
defense budget by 25.5% down to a total of some $48 billion.

There is obviously little fear in Russia that the U.S. budget increase will
effect U.S. military capabilities. The Russians are right. Most of the
Pentagon budget goes to waste. The military as well as the politicians know
this well. From a recent NYT piece <http://u.to/Ql5DEA> about options against
North Korean missiles:

Intercepting a warhead using missile defenses runs other dangers, White
House officials have been told. If the American antimissile systems missed
- against a single warhead, which should be the simplest target - it would
undercut confidence in an infrastructure the United States has spent $300
billion to build over the past four decades."

Missile defense is nonsense. Its principle is to hit one bullet with another
bullet at several times the speed of sound and at distances of hundreds of
miles. That is nearly impossible to do. Even the staged missile defense tests
fail and the system as a whole does not work <http://clck.ru/BsVRY>. The U.S.
military is too afraid to use its $300 billion missile defense boondoggle
because that would prove that it is one gigantic scam.

That does not restrain the politicians from adding money to it:

[The new budget] does authorize an additional $8.5 billion for the Missile
Defense Agency to strengthen homeland, regional and space missile defense.
<http://u.to/h15DEA>

That authorization is $630 million above the Trump administration's request.
The fakenews warmongering by NATO and western politicians about the Zapad
maneuver helped to convince the sheeple that additional welfare projects for
the owners of the military-industrial complex are necessary and justified.
Meanwhile health care for all ..

...

In addition to this, the Poland's defense minister made a statement on their
national TV that the Russian military will test nukes in the area during the
drills or after their official closing.

In normal circumstances it might be an outrageous breaking news, but the
'western' editors know well that the stupid Poles often claim something too
stupid, and filter their delirium so as to leave only more or less plausible
claims corresponding to the Atlanticist agitprop agenda (the whorish Polish
screams about upcoming Russian invasion are considered appropriate though).

Only one Ukrainian outlet issued it in English <http://u.to/DgFEEA>

The post-coup Ukraine politicians' statements and their mass media are even
more insane and psychedelic than the Polish ones. Of these, everything that
can be superfluous for the Anglophone public is also carefully filtered out
by the Atlanticist editors. They do so in order to hide the ugly and somewhat
clownish character of the regimes in Poland and the (post-)Ukraine. Though ..
some west-European (especially British) politicians and news media sometimes
claim something close in the degree of absurdity to such a Polish stuff too.

Revenge for Volyn: what the Ukrainians in Przemysl are afraid of

Konrad Oprzedek | 29.09.2016

In Przemysl, they beat people just because they are Ukrainian, the Ukrainian
community in the town - more than two thousand people - has become a target of
persistent violence and intimidation on the part of the Poles.

"I'm living here since 90s, but the first time I see such a strong aggression
- says Yaroslav, an Ukrainian from Przemysl. - My son tells me every day how
they harass his girlfriend and beat his fellows. Because they're Ukrainian."

"On her car, my wife has a white label that imitates the Ukrainian embroidered
shirt. .. When passersbies go by the car, they say: "Once again Bandera. These
Ukrainians are children of a whore, they come here and feel free here!". In
June, a Pole had scratched our car. There was a lot of cars there but only our
car was scratched"- says Pavel Strelka.

"Every week we can see a spitting on the windows of the People's House, a
meeting place of the Ukrainian residents of Przemysl," - says Roman Zolotnik.
"Sometimes the Poles shout offensive words at us. They can sometimes give a
kick to someone of us. They are thick and aggressive. They shout: "F*ck away
to your f*cking Ukraine".

"One day after a concert of Ukrainian artists, a young mother with children
was walking down the street, and the Poles said "f*king Ukrainian rabble" and
spat in the direction of the children." - says Peter Kutsap.

conditions in Poland.

If that number is 14% now, Poles made a very good progsess.
